VOCAL WILDS
The Art of Embodied Improvisation

This retreat is an intimate weeklong journey into voice, place, culture, and connection, guided by creative partners, soul friends, and Vocal Wilds co-founders, Irene Soléa and TatiAnah Thunberg.
Together, we share the joy of growing the Vocal Wilds Collective, drawing from decades of music-making, retreat-leading, teaching, and community weaving.
We won’t be arriving in Peru with a repertoire to polish or a performance to prepare. Instead, we’ll listen for the music that emerges when our voices, our stories, and this extraordinary place meet. Drawing inspiration from the lineages of Rhiannon’s Vocal River , Bobby McFerrin’s CircleSongs, the devotional practices of Bhakti yoga, and life long exploration of community singing, we’ll follow curiosity, listening, play, and the creative flow that unfolds when voices come together in a place this beautiful and alive.
This circle is open to 10–16 adults of all ages, genders, ethnic, cultural, racial, faith, and sexual identities. Together, we’ll gather with a circle of friends—new and old—amid the breathtaking Andes of Peru’s
Sacred Valley for:
· Singing · Ceremony · Contemplation · Dance · Hiking · Cultural Exploration ·
· Connection · Nourishment · Renewal · Flow · and ... Wildness!
And from there, we’ll journey together to Machu Picchu—truly one of the most extraordinary places on Earth.
Woven throughout it all: spaciousness for rest and integration, and time to simply take in where we are.
We know this journey will continue beyond Peru—in the songs we carry home, the relationships we cultivate, and the ways we continue listening for the music that wants to emerge.
Será inolvidable.
This is going to be unforgettable.
With love and in song,
Irene Soléa & TatiAnah Thunberg
An Invitation From Irene
Peru has lived in me for as long as I can remember.
I am a proud Peruvian American, raised with Peru woven deeply into the fabric of my life. My mother was born and raised in Peru and moved to the United States at age 24, carrying with her the songs, stories, traditions, and flavors of home.
Peru lives in me- in the music and memories of my childhood, the vibrant rhythms and warm laughter, the taste of familiar foods, the smooth dance of my second language, and the feeling of being somewhere both deeply known and full of mystery.
I spent many childhood summers in Peru, moving between the closeness of family life and the vastness of its landscapes. My grandfather, Manuel León, was a composer in the Northern Andes outside of Huaraz; my mother, a singer in Lima. Their musical inheritance shaped how I listen—for story, meaning, rhythm, and aliveness; for all that can travel across cultures and generations; for beauty and belonging.
I have returned to Peru throughout my life, each time deepening my relationship with my ancestral roots, my fierce and complex love for our people and traditions, and my belief in the power of voice and music to bring us back to ourselves and to one another.
Now, as I prepare to live in Peru once again for the first half of 2027, I want to invite you here with me.
To create something new.
To explore together.

OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER
Throughout our week together, Irene and TatiAnah will serve as your retreat leaders and facilitators, alongside trusted guides, practitioners, and special guests from the local community. We will facilitate daily singing, movement, and contemplative practices, as well as weaving community support and reflection throughout our journey together.

MUNAY SONQO RETREAT & YOGA CENTER
-
We will retreat for five nights at Munay Sonqo Mesa, our home in the Sacred Valley. Mesa offers breathtaking views of the surrounding Andes and the sacred rock formations of Apu Pitusiray. Lush gardens, flowing water features, and quiet places for reflection create a peaceful setting to rest, reconnect, and deepen our relationship with this extraordinary land.
-
Our intimate circle of up to 16 explorers will have the entire Mesa campus for our retreat. Spread across four private-entry bungalows, we’ll share a dedicated dining hall, fire area, gardens, and gathering spaces designed for connection, reflection, and renewal.
-
The Mesa Yoga Temple will be the heart of our retreat—a beautiful circular gathering space with hardwood floors and expansive mountain views. Here we will gather for singing, movement, ceremony, contemplation, and shared presence practices.
-
Qualilla Spa, nestled within the natural beauty of Munay Sonqo, offers a restorative space to unwind and fully arrive in the Sacred Valley. Guests may choose to book spa and healing services.
-
Three nourishing organic vegetarian meals will be prepared daily by our dedicated chef, creating opportunities to gather, slow down, share conversation, and savor the flavors of the Sacred Valley together.
In the Sacred Valley, We'll Share:
-
Vocal Wilds—Irene and TatiAnah will facilitate community singing, vocal improvisation, contemplative movement, and presence practices—listening for what emerges when our voices meet this place.
-
A traditional despacho ceremony—an opening offering of gratitude and intention, facilitated by a local practitioner, inviting us to arrive in relationship with the land and the journey ahead.
-
A restorative group spa experience at Qualilla Spa—two hours to soften, unwind, and settle into the rhythm of the Sacred Valley. Our group experience includes salt-cave halotherapy, outdoor jacuzzi, and sauna. Guests may also choose to book additional spa and healing services during their stay.
-
A cacao ceremony facilitated by a local practitioner—an opportunity for reflection, reverence, and shared presence.
-
Hiking to the Sirenachayoc Waterfalls — with the Arin trailhead located at Munay Sonqo, we’ll explore the beauty of the Andes through a scenic one mile walk to these nearby cascades.
-
A full-day journey to Pisac—exploring the ancient archaeological site and wandering through the vibrant artisan market, with opportunities to connect with local crafts, traditions, and culture.
-
Spacious time—for rest, reflection, contemplation, and personal exploration—whether that means sitting in the gardens, taking a quiet walk, sharing conversation, enjoying the views, or simply allowing yourself to be held by this extraordinary place.

Machu Picchu
We’ll carry the songs, relationships, and memories from the Sacred Valley as we journey towards one of the most extraordinary places on earth: Machu Picchu. There is exquisite beauty in the journey itself—from the scenic train ride through the Andes to our arrival in Aguas Calientes, the gateway town below the ancient sanctuary. Following this two-day, one night sojourn, we will return to Cusco by scenic train on April 1.
-
Group ground transportation from the Sacred Valley is provided, allowing us to travel together with ease and presence. Breakfast and lunch are also provided on both days.
-
A scenic Vistadome train journey through the Andes—a breathtaking route alongside mountain landscapes and the Urubamba River, with panoramic views that make the journey itself part of the experience.
-
One night of hotel accommodations in Aguas Calientes, offering time to rest before our visit to the ancient sanctuary.
-
Machu Picchu admission and entrance into this remarkable UNESCO World Heritage site.
-
A guided group visit to Machu Picchu, where we’ll explore the history, architecture, and mystery of this extraordinary place together.
Our intended visit to Machu Picchu is the classic Circuit 2 experience, subject to ticket availability and any changes to government regulations or site access. Because access to Machu Picchu is managed by the Peruvian government, exact entrance times and routes cannot be guaranteed this far in advance.
